Job Description of Cashier

A Cashier who is friendly and outgoing and who enjoys working with the general public. This position requires full-time availability.
A cashier’s primary responsibilities include collecting and distributing monetary payments in retail locations other than financial institutions, such as grocery and home improvement stores. Cashiers are responsible for processing debit cards and making credit card transactions, whether dealing with the general public or employees. These responsibilities can fall under either category.

The ideal candidate is someone who is committed to providing outstanding customer service and maintains a positive attitude whenever interacting with other people, including both customers and employees.

Cashier’s Responsibilities and Duties

● Perform basic calculations, collect payment

● Weighing the products that are going to be purchased allows for price determination.

● Make cash refunds and store credit available to the customers.

● When you start your shift, count the money that is in the cash drawers so that you can give customers the correct change.

● At the beginning of their visits, your customers should be greeted warmly.

● Get the packages ready for shipping by bagging, boxing, and gift-wrapping the contents of the packages.

● Currency and coins should be sorted, counted, and wrapped in accordance with their denominations.

● Put prices on the goods for sale and make sure there is enough inventory on the shelves.

● Make use of the paging system in order to get help with your purchases and the requests of your customers.

● Ensure that the areas where customers pay are neat and clean.

● Handle returns and make sure nothing has been broken in the process.

Minimum job Requirements and Skills

● Attentive to detail and to possess fundamental mathematical skills

● A diploma or certificate equivalent to high school education (GED) is required.

● A fundamental understanding of personal computer hardware and software, as well as a level of comfort operating other types of electronic equipment, such as cash registers, scanners, and money counters

● Skills in both communication and time management are required.

● Capability to concentrate on ensuring that customers are happy

● Have telephone etiquettes

● Strong customer dealing skills

● Have a decent amount of product knowledge

● Have loss prevention techniques

Working condition and Physical abilities

● The person must have the physical strength to carry goods of 5-6 kg.

● He must be flexible in standing for hours.

● He has to work other work if needed
