POSITION SUMMARY

In our restaurant, the Waiter and Waitress are responsible for taking orders from customers and delivering food and beverages to clients. Always keeping in mind the satisfaction of the guests in order to provide the best possible service. Ensure that the guests are served food and beverages of a good quality. A portion of your duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing excellent customer service in an amicable and time-efficient manner while also keeping your workplace tidy and risk-free. At all times, the guests need to be made to feel welcome, comfortable, and well attended to.

 

Serve food courses and alcoholic beverages to guests. Set tables according to type of event and service standards. Answer questions on menu selections. Communicate with the kitchen regarding menu questions, the length of wait, re-cook orders, and product availability. Communicate additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests to the kitchen. Record transaction in MICROS system at time of order. Check in with guests to ensure satisfaction with each food course and/or beverages. Maintain cleanliness of work areas, china, glass, etc., throughout the day. Complete closing duties, including restocking items, turning off lights, etc. Present physical and accurate check to guest and process payment.

 

 

Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager; and complete safety training and certifications. Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional, maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, and protect company assets. Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards, anticipate and address guests’ service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and thank guests with genuine appreciation. Speak with others using clear and professional language. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, support team to reach common goals, and listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees. Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards. Read and visually verify information in a variety of formats (e.g., small print). Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance and objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds with assistance. Grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying size and weight, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces as well as up and down stairs and/or service ramps. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.

 

The tasks and responsibilities of a waiter or waitress include ensuring that customers receive excellent service at the establishment in which they are dining.

  • Ensure that the customer feels valued and at home when dining at the restaurant.
  • Make sure the cold food stays cold and the hot food stays hot.
  • Observe the established scheduling guidelines for products and services.
  • Investigate the possibility of streamlining your service and increasing your table turnover.
  • Present menu, answer queries, and give menu recommendations
  • Customers should be served in a manner that is accommodating.
  • Must be familiar with all of the food, liquor, beer, and wine that are sold in retail.
  • Make use of a sales strategy based on positive suggestion to direct guests.
  • Prepare the tables to be bussed; keep the tables clean, bust the tables, and remove the soiled plates.
  • Investigate different ways to save costs and waste to save money.
  • Help maintain the restaurant’s high standards of cleanliness and safety.
  • Make sure alcoholic beverages are served in a responsible manner.
  • Bring the necessary eats and drinks to any table that requests them.
  • Must adhere to all policies and procedures regarding the handling of currency.
  • Arrive on the property promptly and in the appropriate attire.
  • Use the cash register to handle the payments for the various food and drink orders.
  • Maintain accurate food orders by working in coordination with the kitchen personnel.

Requirements:

  • Waiters and waitresses are required to be of age to legally serve alcoholic beverages as a condition of employment (May vary by state)
  • Must be in possession of all certifications and licences necessitated by the statutes of the local Alcoholic Beverage Commission and Health Department.
  • Communication abilities, both vocal and written, need to be very clear.
  • Must be able to demonstrate that they possess the necessary physical skills to carry out the duties outlined in the job description.
  • Required to have the ability to manage currency transactions in a responsible manner
  • Must be able to bring together and organise the requirements of all of the tables inside their station.
  • Food and drink must be able to be carried at all times.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a group setting is required.
  • Training on the safe handling of food is required.
  • A diploma from high school or its equivalent is required; a college degree is desirable.
  • At the very least, one year of experience working as a waiter or waitress at a hotel, restaurant, or conference centre.
  • Any relevant expertise with providing or focusing on customer service will be taken into consideration.
  • Having the capacity to comprehend and express clearly and fluently in English
